UNIVERSITY WIRE (U-WIRE)

University Wire (U-WIRE) is the only daily, electronic newswire covering news produced on the nation's college campuses. OSKAR Consulting is currently assisting U-WIRE to set-up additional licensing arrangements with websites, online services and other organizations interested in utilizing U-WIRE content as part of their products or services.

Dubbed the "AP wire for college newspapers" by The New York Times, U-WIRE was founded in 1994 and has evolved into the central source for timely and informative news about U.S. colleges and universities. Student reporters at more than 250 of the nation's largest campus publications contribute to U-WIRE's daily dispatch of news, sports, features and entertainment pieces in a standard format.

U-WIRE also offers a daily feed of photos stemming from college campus newspapers across the U.S. Click on U-WIRE Photo Service for more information. Photos can be licensed in connection with the U-WIRE newsfeeds or as a separate feed.

The type of news available from U-WIRE appeals to the many students and alumni of these schools scattered throughout the U.S. and abroad and can be extremely useful for web-based businesses interested in reaching the potentially lucrative market which the younger generation embodies.

Depending on the licensee's preference, the U-WIRE feed can be delivered in tagged ASCII, XML or HTML. Archives are available back to September 1997. Partners are able to take the full-feed or a customized selection appropriate for a specific target audience.

The U-WIRE story count averages between 65,000 to 85,000 stories per year, broken down as follows:

• Opinion: 15,000–17,000 stories per year
